I am a graduate of Texas A&M class of '86. I have been teaching for 19 years. I have taught everything from 7th grade Texas History and Reading to 3rd grade self contained. Currently I am K-5 Science Facilitator for my district. I have been married for 26 years and have 2 sons. My oldest attends TAMUK, majoring in Biomedical Science and my youngest is a sophomore at Texas, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Laura, your plan looks great. I love the idea of blogging in place of journaling. This will encourage much more interest from the students and at an earlier age. Good luck with your plan! I think a gradual move towards this concept will encourage more teacher buy in to. Great idea!
Laura, I like your action research plan and its focus on Science. As most of us know, according to TAKS scores and other data, Texas students are struggling in science. I think using more of the digital natives own tools will help them better understand, utilize and reinforce important concepts. In my district, however, survey monkey has been blocked. Surveying the students themselves is also a great way to see if the information is getting through. The students will feel that they are a valuable part and are invested in their own learning. It seems like you have a great direction and have already started to capture data. Good luck! Becky
Next year you will need one those house divided T-shirts.
ReplyDeleteYour plan looks like a good one. I hope you are successful with teacher buy-in.
