It is important for principals to deal swiftly and effectively with conflict. If there is not a solution or at least an effort to come up with a solution then the conflict will continue to grow. It can also create other conflects. Fixing the conflict is always the best choice for any principal.
There may be times when the “fix” does not work but as long as the principal is taking an active role in trying to correct the conflict or problem then most parties involved will be satisfied that a solution is coming.
If a principal chooses the flight option then the situation generally becomes worse. If a principal chooses the fight option then teachers may become antagonistic toward the principal as well as other teachers.
Diplomacy should be a principal’s middle name, at times a school can be like running the united nations, everyone may have a different agenda but they all need to gel into a single vision.
